Episantr is an emergency communication platform designed to support coordination and safety
during earthquakes. To prevent overload on mobile networks, users can update their safety
status through their profiles in real time, allowing family, friends, and responders to see who is
safe, missing, or in need of help on their maps. The Turkey-based app continuously tracks the
time since the last status update in earthquake zones and is designed to utilize Bluetooth-
based mesh networking to enable device-to-device communication even when internet and
cellular networks are unavailable. In situations where individuals cannot use their phones
manually (e.g., due to injury or entrapment), Episantr supports voice assistant commands for
hands-free emergency signaling.
